Poughkeepsie Journal – Letter to the Editor Apparently congressional candidate John Hall has no ideas or proposals, because all I have seen out of his negative campaign thus far are cheap shots at Sue Kelly. In the latest installment, Hall berates Kelly for not agreeing to debate. Then, after it was learned Kelly actually has agreed to five debates, Hall switched gears and now wants a debate in each of the five counties Kelly represents. This is akin to Hillary Clinton or Eliot Spitzer being asked to debate in all nine regions of New York state. Or, it’s the same as asking two people running for president to debate in each of the 50 states. How silly. There is this new invention; it’s called a television. Sue Kelly has already agreed to debate her opponent five times, and one of those debates is on cable TV. Therefore, if someone can’t be there for the other four debates, there is the chance to catch the fifth on TV. With so many important issues in the world today, doesn’t it seem that Hall should have more important things to talk about than arguing over the location of a debate? Majed Annabi, Mahopac |
